Calling in Your Visionary Writing Guides
A guided meditation for Visionary Writers
Imagine there is a circle around you, formed of those who love you and who want to see you shine as a Visionary Writer.
Steven Pressfield writes about calling in the muses in his book, The War of Art. I call them our Visionary Writing Guides.
For me, these are the ones who’ve got my back on the other side of the Veil. They may be Ancestors, Spirit Guides, Wisdom Teachers, Animals Spirits, Intergalactic Beings, Cosmic Life Forces, Gods and Goddesses, Ascended Masters; any beings who care deeply enough to support us on our Visionary Writing Journey in this lifetime.
Our Visionary Writing Guides are the ones who deeply desire for us to write, the ones who inspire us with their wisdom, their teaching, their messages, their challenges: they are here to hold us through the alchemy of this path.
They are the ones who write with us, the ones who write through us, the ones who cannot touch the Earth themselves. So they urge us to take the pen and do it for them, do it with them - to create change and open the portal to new possibilities in this world.
They may include past avatars of ourselves, and/or future versions of our higher timelines. I work strongly with the archetype of the Magician from the Tarot: the one who calls Spirit into form through the alchemy of the four elements, to give shape to thought and create new matter, new material, new possibilities in this reality.
That’s what Visionary Writing is. Calling Spirit into form with our imagination drawn down into materiality through words, language, sound.
Our Visionary Writing Guides hold us in their circle and they urge us to write what they cannot say. They remind us of the gift and the blessing and the privilege and the responsibility of being a Visionary Writer in these times. To write the words that the world needs to hear. The words they are pouring continuously into and through our hearts. So how do we listen?

How Do You Call In Your Visionary Writing Guides?
It helps to be in a meditative, open and receptive state of mind, focused on your heart, rooted and anchored into the Earth, so that your guides will know that you have a serious and pure intention. And so that they have a channel of Light by which to enter, to inspire, motivate, enthuse, and move through you.
It’s also important that we take responsibility for the words that we write in any state of openness or receptivity - even channelling. What moves through us is also of us, and could not enter the world in any way. Everything that we create is coloured by our experiences, perceptions, perspectives and prejudices, and it would do us well to remember that when we write.
Invoking our Visionary Writing Guides is a way to begin the mutual relationship of receptivity and giving that we desire to cultivate with them. In this relationship, we have a responsibility to create through our active participation in the world. We are not passive spectators waiting for spirits to move us, and the world is not just happening around us. We are co-creators of our reality. And as Visionary Writers we have a responsibility to listen and create. So, as we set our intention for this relationship to emerge, blossom and take root, we begin our guided meditation practice.
Meditation to Call in Your Visionary Writing Guides:
Find a comfortable space where you can sit or lie down. Have your notebook and pen close to hand, so that you can take notes throughout or at the end of this practice.
Finding your feet, your connection to the Earth. The roots that grow down, anchoring you into the belly of the mother. Sensing into the Source of creative life force energy drawing up through your roots like molten fire. This is your creative kundalini, birthing worlds and possibilities through the magic of your words. Draw this infinite Source of creative possibility up through your roots into the base of your spine.
Then finding your seat, your connection to the here and now: this moment. Knowing that you are supported on this earth. Sensing into the solidity of the support that you receive on a day by day and moment by moment basis, from the physicality of this earth.
Draw up the creative life force energy, the activated molten fire kundalini, into the base of your spine. And with every breath, inhaling to draw that energy up and in; exhaling and expanding your capacity to hold and receive. The golden chalice in your pelvis, your sacral chakra, infinitely expanding with every breath: always full and always filling with the infinite source of your creative life force energy.
Breathing here.
Taking time to sense into the expansion of your creative capacity.
And then when you feel ready drawing that energy up into your solar plexus, where it explodes like fire. Your willpower, your centre of creative identity. This is who you are. This is who you are born to be. Your sun, your solar plexus. Feeling that raw wildfire igniting the Visionary Writer that you are.
Breathing here.
Keeping that connection all the way up the spine. All the way up from the belly of the earth, through your roots, into the base of your spine, your golden chalice, your creative wildfire.
Breathing.
And when you feel ready, drawing that energy up into your heart space, your heart chakra. Your heart and your higher heart, both activated by this new pulsing life force energy. Drawing it up like liquid gold, like warm honey. An amber golden light, oozing, filling, expanding and rippling out through your heart space in every direction. Opening up your awareness of the power and intensity of your heart, your love. Filling with the activated fire of creative potential, like warm liquid honey melting into your heart
Breathing here.
And when you are ready, drawing that energy up into your throat centre, all the way up into your throat chakra and your alta major chakra at the base of your neck. Feeling the illumination turn to Starfire here. Blue white diamond light, blazing your throat chakra into life - fully activated, fully intensified. Clear, pure, powerful, purposeful self expression of the highest wisdom, the highest love, the highest intention.
Breathing in and out through the throat here. Connecting with your inner fire. Receiving wisdom, vision. Breathing here
When you are ready, drawing that energy up into your third eye, the space between your eyebrows, your ajna chakra. The space of clarity, receptivity, intuition. You may see your Visionary Writing Guides beginning to emerge around you. Just allow whatever visualisations are present to come through.
Breathing here.
And then when you’re ready drawing that energy up to the crown chakra. The pure light of cosmic energy, Divine love, wisdom, inspiration, and your higher purpose is seeded here. Drawing that cosmic energy down, down, as you move your awareness up further to your Stellar Gateway, the seat of your soul. Drawing that cosmic wisdom down as you are drawing the abundance of the earth’s energy and creative life force kundalini all the way up.
Then returning your awareness to your heart centre where these energies of above and below can meet and merge in you, in your Being, in your love.
Sensing your Visionary Writing Guides around you in a circle. They may have names, they may have faces, you may be aware of certain presences or energies. However they are appearing to you in this moment, allow yourself to drop in to this connection.
Breathing. Open to receive the love that they are pouring into you right now. The wisdom, the vision, the intention for creation.
You may ask them to guide you, to help you, to show you what you are here to do as a Visionary Writer at this time.
Stay with this powerful process for as long as you feel is appropriate for you. And then when you feel ready, bring your awareness back down to the base of your spine, the soles of your feet, the palms of your hands, and your fingers. Rubbing your palms together to create some heat and cupping them over your eyes.
Taking a moment here.
Opening your eyes behind closed palms and then when you feel ready, very gently taking your hands away.
And taking your notebook and your pen give yourself some time to journal with what has been revealed to you, and what may still continue to keep revealing itself as you write.
This is a practice that you can repeat frequently to anchor in that connection, that relationship, that intention to receive the nectar of wisdom and inspiration from your Visionary Writing Guides.
As we now enter more fully into the Age of Aquarius, your role here on Earth as a Visionary Writer is evolving and expanding. It is time to step up, reclaim your power, and speak your truth with courage and confidence. Your Visionary Writing Guides are ready and willing to help you do just that.
